While mum-of-two Ailsa — a lecturer practitioner at Glasgow Caledonian University and the Victoria Infirmary — has concerns about the health aspect, she added: “Really, it’s just about raising awareness of the innappropriateness of the proposal.”

Residents WIN--CELL TOWER STOPPED! Residents of that neighborhood claimed the tower would only be 500 feet from an elementary school and a little more than a thousand feet from a middle school....A grass-roots group of parents, property owners and neighbors have appealed to the city to block the tower....They also said the tower would lower property values....."Just wanted to let you know that we SUCCEEDED in our battle against T-Mobile, there will NOT be a T-Mobile tower installed on the Little White Chapel across the street and so close to schools!!!! We are all so happy and frankly surprised - the City Council kept telling us their hands were tied in this issue.

We had close to 200 people show up at the appeal meeting and we had ABC and NBC news cameras show up – we had a lot of great community support which I think helped."

Brits Celebrate Stopping Cell Tower Near School

Telefonica UK had applied for a 17.5m 3G antenna .... But 125 letters of objection were received from surrounding residents, concerned about the potential impact on the skyline, wildlife and the health of children at nearby Hillside Avenue School. “I just wish these applicants would work with us because we can find places to put these masts, rather than making these applications in the most stupid places.”
The decision was met with applause from the residents in attendance, who came out strongly against the application with a variety of concerns. Chief among those concerns was the impact a 130-foot cell phone tower would have on the aesthetics and overall character of the surrounding neighborhoods.

Santa Fe School Board Unanimous: No Cell Tower by Gonzales School

At its March 19 meeting, the Santa Fe School Board unanimously approved a resolution opposing plans to site a cellphone tower next to Gonzales Community School. At least one board member, Steven Carrillo, said he was unconvinced until he heard community members speak at the meeting. Federal telecommunications laws favor the industry, leaving local communities with few avenues for challenging tower placement and proliferation. Tuesday’s resolution was directed to the Santa Fe Historic Review Board. Because the proposed tower site is within the city’s historic district, the review board can nix the plan on “esthetic” grounds.
The MCG wants the mobile operators to relocate these towers from residential areas to commercial locations. "It's a well known fact that the radiation from these towers causes deadly diseases like cancer and we want to ensure the safety of our residents. There are hundreds of mobile towers in residential areas and in case somebody gets affected by this radiation everybody will blame us for it," said mayor Vimal Yadav.

Chris Varcoe, president of the Mississauga Fire Fighters Association, expressed concern about plans by the municipality to locate cell towers at City facilities, including fire stations.

"We believe that there are established biological effects from exposure to low-level cell tower radiation," said Varcoe. "Such biological effects may be markers of adverse health effects, similar to biological markers arising from exposure to toxic chemicals. Therefore, we strongly object to placement of cell towers on our fire stations and request that you carefully consider placements for towers on City properties or withhold the decision altogether until the true health effects are known."
