INDIA: Town seals 298 cell towers citing health hazards

The MCG wants the mobile operators to relocate these towers from residential areas to commercial locations. “It’s a well known fact that the radiation from these towers causes deadly diseases like cancer and we want to ensure the safety of our residents. There are hundreds of mobile towers in residential areas and in case somebody gets affected by this radiation everybody will blame us for it,” said mayor Vimal Yadav.

FIRE FIGHTERS OPPOSE TOWERS ON STATIONS

Chris Varcoe, president of the Mississauga Fire Fighters Association, expressed concern about plans by the municipality to locate cell towers at City facilities, including fire stations.

“We believe that there are established biological effects from exposure to low-level cell tower radiation,” said Varcoe. “Such biological effects may be markers of adverse health effects, similar to biological markers arising from exposure to toxic chemicals. Therefore, we strongly object to placement of cell towers on our fire stations and request that you carefully consider placements for towers on City properties or withhold the decision altogether until the true health effects are known.”

“Security and health are what brought me into the debate,” said Lisa Rooney, Board Member of Naperville Smart Meter Awareness. “What has kept me in the debate has been a lot more to do with freedom of choice and the constitutional issues.”

Naperville Police Escort to Install Electric Meters

POLICE ESCORT TO INSTALL ELECTRIC METERS?
This begs the question, why would the city need to request police escort to install a meter that is so beneficial for you?

They refuse them because they can. Supported by the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005, ratepayers do not have to accept a smart meter on their homes if they do not want one.

The group filed a complaint Friday in federal court seeking a stay of the installations. Its opposition to the project rests primarily with health concerns about radio frequency emissions from the smart meters, but the group also registered strenuous objections over privacy issues, homeowner’s rights, and what they say are violations of the Illinois Open Meetings Act in the process leading up to the beginning of installation.

CA Residents Allowed To Keep Analog Meters

For months, PG&E, state regulators, consumer advocates and several Bay Area cities that have passed ordinances against SmartMeters have struggled to come up with a fair opt-out proposal that would give consumers who don’t want SmartMeters other options.
