Recent revelations that Apple's iPhone and iPad, Google's Android and Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating systems collect, store and transmit records of users' physical locations to central databases--secretly, and without consent--have ignited a firestorm over Americans' privacy rights in an age of hypersurveillance....

"Medical maladies ... began when a factory owned by Taiwan's Wintek, swapped basic rubbing alcohol with the more dangerous toxin n-hexane in the final cleaning process of touch screens to shave off a few seconds off production time. N-hexane is a known toxin and prolonged, high-level exposure can caused nerve damage and a long list of medical problems."

Several studies of Apple's production practices undertaken by the Netherlands-based Centre for Research on Multinational Corporations (SOMO) revealed "disturbing allegations of excessive working hours and draconian workplace rules at two major plants in southern China. It has also uncovered an 'anti-suicide' pledge that workers at the two plants have been urged to sign, after a series of employee deaths last year," The Observer reports.

In the International Journal of Occupational and Environmental Health2, researchers reported that of 10 epidemiological studies assessing health effects of mobile-phone base stations, eight of the 10 studies reported increased prevalence of adverse neurobehavioral symptoms or cancer in populations living at distances less than 500 meters from base stations.

They conclude that non-ionizing electromagnetic fields (such as cell phone (microwave transmission) are among the fastest growing forms of environmental pollution.

The European Environment Agency executive director warned: "Waiting for high levels of proof before taking action to prevent well-known risks can lead to very high health and economic costs, as it did with asbestos, leaded petrol and smoking."

Patente de SwissCom: Reduction of electrosmog in Wireless Local networks. SwissCom admit health damage from Wi-Fi in patent to reduce exposures.

"Thus it has been possible to show that mobile radio radiation can cause damage to genetic material, in particular in human white blood cells, whereby both the DNA itself is damaged and the number of chromosomes changed."

A comparison of the relative risk revealed that there were 4.15 times more cases in area A than in the entire population. The study indicated an association between increased incidence of cancer and living in proximity to a cell phone base station. The measured level of RFR, between 0.3 to 0.5 μW/cm2, was far below the thermal guidelines.

Mr. Wulf Dietrich Rose, an expert in mobile communications, of Kitzbühel, Austria, internationally known for his research works in this field, proved through his studies and researches that mobile radiation represents serious health risks to the nearby living population of cancer, brain tumours, genetic problems, and deformity of newborns.

In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Mr. Rose, IGEF has affected several measurements and specific radiation studies and due to his expertise obtained that already constructed mobile stations in residential areas were dismantled or constructions were simply postponed. Example: Max Mobil (a daughter company of German Telekom) could not increase the construction program of their intended network system.

In layman's terms what Alexandrov and his team discovered is that the resonant effects of the THz waves bombarding humans unzips the double-stranded DNA molecule. This ripping apart of the twisted chain of DNA creates bubbles between the genes that can interfere with the processes of life itself: normal DNA replication and critical gene expression.

Is it not improper, if not unethical, for our public library system to be handing out yes or no questionnaires concerning Wi-Fi without informing the public of the substantial scientific and medical literature which demonstrates harm? What duty is it of the public library to censor information and try to control public opinion? Is that not antithetical to its mission?

A shining example of the alternative in action is the National Library of France, the equivalent of our Library of Congress. France National Library recently placed a moratorium on Wi-Fi and exchanged microwave radiation for wired connections. They based their decision on scientific/medical research demonstrating harm from electro-pollution.

The following studies indicate biological effects at exposure levels far below what would be explained by "thermal effects", and well within the range people are commonly exposed to every day.
