PEDIATRICS, Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics (2005), research study concludes,

“Consistent epidemiologic evidence of an association between childhood leukemia and exposure to extremely low frequency (ELF) magnetic fields has led to their classification by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as a “possible human carcinogen.” Concerns about the potential vulnerability of children to radio frequency (RF) fields have been raised because of the potentially greater susceptibility of their developing nervous systems; in addition, their brain tissue is more conductive, RF penetration is greater relative to head size, and they will have a longer lifetime of exposure than adults.”

In 2003 the teachers at La Quinta, California middle school complained that they had more cancers than would be expected. A consultant for the school district denied that there was a problem. Researchers found “The cancer incidence in the teachers at this school is unusually high and is strongly associated with high frequency voltage transients, which may be a universal carcinogen, similar to ionizing radiation.” PMID: 18512243 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]

Dr Baxendale claims the situation is now so serious that immediate action should be taken to stop masts going up in places where children congregate.

‘You can’t reverse the process later. By then the damage could well have been done,’ Dr Baxendale said.

The scientist wants a ban in Scotland, following the lead of New Zealand, Sweden, Italy, Australia and parts of the U.S. in banning them from such areas.

In 2005, the Mail revealed that a third of schools in Britain’s towns and cities had a mast within 200 yards of them.

The Ontario English Catholic Teacher’s Association, representing 45,000 teachers, says computers in all new schools should be hardwired instead of setting up wireless networks. It also says Wi-Fi should not be installed in any more classrooms.

In a position paper released today, the union – which represents 45,000 teachers – cites research by the World Health Organization.

Last year the global health agency warned about a possible link between radiation from wireless devices such as cellphones and cancer. Some believe wireless access to the Internet could pose similar risks.

The MCG wants the mobile operators to relocate these towers from residential areas to commercial locations. “It’s a well known fact that the radiation from these towers causes deadly diseases like cancer and we want to ensure the safety of our residents. There are hundreds of mobile towers in residential areas and in case somebody gets affected by this radiation everybody will blame us for it,” said mayor Vimal Yadav.

Important regions of the brain necessary for learning, memory and other functions of the mammalian brain were impacted by the microwave radiation, including the hippocampus, cerebellum and frontal lobe, at exposures below the ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection) safety guidelines….providing new evidence for a potential relationship between everyday cell phone use, wireless transmitters and wireless computer equipment and electrosensitivity symptoms, such as headaches, dizziness and sleep disorders, as well as with tumors, Alzheimer’s and even metabolic effects.

John Wargo, Ph.D., professor of Environmental Risk and Policy at Yale University and lead author of the report, said, “The scientific evidence is sufficiently robust showing that cellular devices pose significant health risks to children and pregnant women.”

Frequent texting means cell phones are often kept in a pocket all day and under a pillow or on a teenager’s bed at night.

Exposures to electromagnetic radiation are increasing most rapidly among the youngest in our society, as service providers focus their advertising on children and educational markets.”

A scientific paper released by the US National Institutes for Health last year. It proves that stem cells are permanently damaged by the exact microwave frequency emitted by cell towers. In the conclusions it specifically targets further investigation for leukemia “especially in children”.

A recent review of available epidemiologic studies concluded that the use of mobile phones for > 10 years is associated with increased risk of ipsilateral gliomas and acoustic neurinomas (Hardell et al. 2008)

Internationally acknowledged experts in the field of RF/MW radiation research have shown that RF/MW transmissions of the type used in digital cellular antennas and phones can have critical effects on cell cultures, animals, and people in laboratories and have also found epidemiological evidence (studies of communities, not in the laboratory) of serious health effects at “non-thermal levels,” where the intensity of the RF/MW radiation was too low to cause heating. The study established a direct link between cancer deaths in Belo Horizonte, the third largest city, with the antennae of the mobile telephone network, reported in Science Hoje site, the news portal of the Brazilian Society for Progress Science (Sociedad Brasileña para el Progreso de la Ciencia.)

According to the study, more than 80 percent of people who die in Belo Horizonte by specific types of cancer live less than 500 meters away from the 300 identified cell phone antennas in the city.

Scientists found between 1996 and 2006 died in Belo Horizonte a total of 4924 victims of cancer types that may be caused by electromagnetic radiation, such as tumors in the prostate, breast, lung, kidneys and liver.

Janet Acker, a retired Vista Del Monte teacher, used to work in one of the classrooms closest to the tower. She has recorded nine current and former staff members who have been diagnosed with cancer. Acker has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and has spoken to the board of education about the matter in the past.

Kumar, who has done extensive research on cell phone radiation and its
effects warns:

- A 400% increase in the risk of brain cancer among for teenagers using cell phones. Children are more vulnerable to cell phone radiation. The younger the child, the deeper is the penetration of electromagnetic radiation as children’s skulls are thinner.

- Frequent use of mobile phones can also damage the visual system in many ways. Researchers are finding a 360 % increase in cancers of the eye nearest the usual placement of a user’s cell phone.

- Excessive use of mobile phones can also cause cancer in anyone. Use of cell phones for more than 30 minutes per day for 10 years increases the risk of brain cancer and acoustic neuroma.

- Cell phone radiation causes irreversible damage to male fertility. Studies have found 30% lower sperm count in intensive users of mobile phones.

Fourteen people living within a mile of a mobile phone mast that emits one of the highest levels of radiation in the country have died of cancer.

Responding to months of consumer protests, the California Public Utilities Commission on Thursday ordered PG&E to come up with ways for worried customers to refuse SmartMeters.

According to research that published in the periodical “Journal of the American College of Cardiology,” a study headed by specialists from the University College London, found those in front of a computer or a television had double the risk of having a heart attack, had a 125 percent heightened risk of having a heart failure, a stroke or a heart attack, independent of other risk factors like smoking, obesity, and high-blood pressure, due in part to inflammation.

“I believe in freedom and believe our homes are supposed to be our castles, where we can feel safe and protected. I do not like the idea of being connected to the “grid” and having data from our homes being collected and sold to the highest bidders. I do not like the idea of someone knowing if we are in our homes or on vacation. I do not want a smart meter, wired or wireless. I just want my old analog meter to be left alone. It is perfectly good and working just fine.”

Many cellphones emit the most radiation when they initially establish contact with the cell tower, making their “digital handshake.” To reduce exposure it’s best to wait until after your call has been connected to put your cellphone next to your ear.

During the ensuing conversation, it’s advisable to tilt the phone away from your ear when you are talking and only bring it in close to your ear when you are listening. That bit of teeter-totter works because the emission of radiation is “significantly less when a cellphone is receiving signals than when it is transmitting,” said Lin Zhong, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at Rice University in Houston.

Of course, parents using their iPhones to pacify cranky kids might want to reconsider rattles. Children’s developing brains and tissues are thought to be most vulnerable to cellphone radiation. Health authorities in Britain, France, Germany and Russia have all issued warnings against allowing small children to use cellphones for extended periods, if at all.

Opponents ranging from GPS makers to the U.S. military object to the LightSquared network, which is said to have too close a signal to GPS signals. And since GPS is satellite-only and the 4G system will use both satellites and thousands of local towers, the 4G service could drown out GPS signals. Without GPS, the military, first responders and trucking companies could have a difficult time serving, saving and monitoring, which could endanger lives. That’s not good.

A SCHOOLGIRL has won a David and Goliath-style battle to protect her family from radiation from a mobile phone mast planned yards from her home.

The feisty youngster warned officials, including local government minister Andrew Stunnell, that she would hold them “personally responsible” for any ill-effects caused to residents if the mast was given the green light.

Some health experts’ view of seemingly harmless devices such as mobile phones, game consoles and 3D TVs is similar to their assessment of smoking and heroin addiction.

But even fears of long-term psychological damage pale beside research indicating users of mobile phones may be increasing their chances of developing brain cancer. This compounds long-standing fears concerning the levels of electromagnetic radiation generated by the millions of mobile phone masts sprouting in towns, cities and villages across the world.

A hollow tube headset is another good choice. Bluetooth earpieces will expose you to some radiation. However, they emit much less radiation than phones.

A Bluetooth headset’s SAR will fall between 1 milliwatt per kilogram and 100 mW/kg. There are three classes of Bluetooth headsets. Class 3 has the lowest SAR; Class 1 has the highest. If you use a Bluetooth headset, remove it from your ear when not using it.

“We can do nothing and wait for the body count. That’s what happened with smoking” before warnings on cigarette packs were mandated, David Carpenter, director of the Institute for Health and Environment at the University of Albany, told Maine lawmakers.

Carpenter said the strongest evidence of cell phone dangers comes from Europe, where the devices have been in use longer than in the United States. He told lawmakers that the U.S. “may face an epidemic of brain cancer” if nothing is done to warn consumers of risks.

The sponsor, Rep. Andrea Boland, said the United States lags behind other countries that have either mandated similar warnings or endorsed policies warning the public about cell phone use.

1. Mandate the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) revisit its exposure guidelines for radiofrequency radiation (RF) immediately.

2. Repeal Section 704 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which took away the rights of state and local governments to stop the erection of cell towers and wireless antennas in their communities based on “environmental” grounds (defined by FCC as “human health”).

3. Declare a national moratorium on further wireless infrastructure build-out, including the Wi-Max roll-out currently underway, a joint venture of Sprint, Time Warner Cable, Google, Clearwire and others.

4. Establish cell phone and wireless-free neighborhoods, transportation options, government buildings, and public spaces; require employers to establish wireless free zones. [Regarding the current FCC safety standards] Devra Davis explains: “They are based on the imaginary SAM, the Standard Anthropomorphic Man based on military recruits of 1989: six foot two tall, about 200 lbs, and never exposed to a cell phone. The subsequently constructed safety standards date to 1962 when nobody knew the difference between heat-producing radiation and microwave radiation, and cell phones did not exist.”

The forum, organized by the Santa Barbara Tea Party and which drew in about 100 people, featured Supervisor Anthony Farrrington, D-Lake County, Dr. Mark Toney of TURN, Tyson Slocum of Public Citizen; Cindy Sage of Sage Associates, author Orlean Koehle and Joshua Hart of Stop Smart Meters.

Koehle said the utility companies claim they are following federal law by mandating these installations, but when she consulted a lawyer, she found that was not the case.

Toney discussed time-based pricing that would charge higher rates during the daytime and the hottest days of the year. “I call it critical peak pricing,” he said. “During the 10 hottest days of year, they want to charge a tenfold increase on those days. Talk about a health threat.”

Recent revelations that Apple’s iPhone and iPad, Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 operating systems collect, store and transmit records of users’ physical locations to central databases–secretly, and without consent–have ignited a firestorm over Americans’ privacy rights in an age of hypersurveillance….

Several studies of Apple’s production practices undertaken by the Netherlands-based Centre for Research on Multinational Corporations (SOMO) revealed “disturbing allegations of excessive working hours and draconian workplace rules at two major plants in southern China. It has also uncovered an ‘anti-suicide’ pledge that workers at the two plants have been urged to sign, after a series of employee deaths last year,” The Observer reports.

If this understanding was applied to the data available in 1982, when IARC declared benzene a Human Carcinogen, then the level of data for RF/MW radiation being a human carcinogen was considerably stronger than that for benzene. This confirms that hypothesis and the toxicology of the signals with a safe level of zero exposure. Hence living in the vicinity of broadcast and mobile phone towers produces Cancer, Cardiac, Reproductive and Neurological (CCRN) health effects.

Late last week, the Federal Aviation Administration alerted pilots that “the GPS signal may be unreliable or unavailable” within a nearly 300-mile radius of Boulder City, where the test transmitter will be located, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. local time daily from Monday to May 27.

Nellis Air Force Base has plans for two military exercises during the period in which the testing is to take place involving air support units that rely on the use of GPS technology.

“Anything that affects operations is of concern,” said Nellis spokesman Charles Ramey. “We rely heavily on GPS to accomplish our mission.”

“Flight attendants tell you to turn off your cellphones and your Kindles and whatever else because it may interfere the plane’s electronics … and yet I got this notice from FAA that somebody is going to do exactly the same thing, which is interfere with the navigation of the airplane,” said John Gadzinski, an airline captain and aviation safety consultant.

From January 2011 Consumer Reports, “With landline phones, operators were significantly more likely to find callers by determining the location of the phone. More than one-third of landline users were located in that manner compared with only 7 percent of cell callers. Landline phones give the operator your home address, including an apartment number if it appears on your phone bill. With cellular phones, operators see only geographic coordinates.”

“I’ve gotten called out four or five times a year because of cell tower battery explosions,” says Frank Vaccaro, a telecom battery consultancy. “In one case, the front part of a battery cabinet blew off 250 feet because of an explosion and landed in front of a car. I’m concerned because someone could be killed.”

Dr. Annie Sasco, a cancer researcher at the University of Bordeaux, France, and a distinguished 20-year IARC veteran, feels an even higher classification is warranted: Class 2A, which indicates a ‘probable’ human carcinogen. She says the fact that much of the research was sponsored by the cell phone industry may have affected the classification…

So, that means wireless routers and networks, portable phones, wireless baby monitors, wireless computer equipment and the so-called ‘Smart’ utility meters that emit radiation–

“Fortune magazine asks: If cell phones caused brain cancer, then why don’t we face an epidemic now?…Survivors of the atomic bombs that fell on Japan experienced no increase at all in brain cancer until four decades after the war’s end….In contrast, every major study ever conducted has found that those who use cell phones half an hour a day or more have a doubled risk of brain cancer, and those who began using cell phones as teenagers have four to five times more disease in less than 10 years.

The World Health Organization (WHO) joins with medical specialists in Israel, Finland, France, Russia, India and Brazil, all of whom agree that cell phone radiation should be reduced now, rather than waiting for the deadly confirmation we received with tobacco and asbestos.”

A link between this technology and cancer would prove an economic as well as a medical catastrophe. So what can investors can do about it?

For starters, investors should be monitoring the medical data and keeping up with the latest developments. They should be demanding that the mobile companies do everything they can to research the risks – and mitigate them. There is no point in simply denying that such a risk exists, in the way that the tobacco industry did for decades.

Last year, Nadia Falzone and her colleagues irradiated healthy active human sperm for one hour with a 900 MHz cell phone frequency band at 2 W/kg [9] The radiation caused a halving in sperm head size and an abnormally low level of sperm able to bind with the outer membrane of a human egg.

There are also links between RF exposure and effects on female reproductive organs. It is possible that fetuses in utero are susceptible to RF exposure, as well [4].

Councilor Ash added: “Myself and Councilor Haddley have been happy to help to represent the many local residents who have contacted us to object to this proposal.”

The rest of the world is acknowledging the danger of this radiation and other countries are taking steps to protect children by removing WiFi from schools. As those markets dry up overseas, there is a mad rush by industry to get WiFi into schools throughout the U.S.

The result is our children are essentially being sacrificed for corporate profits and we are all being exploited because of our ignorance about the dangers of this completely unnecessary technology. WiFi may be more convenient, but what is the price of convenience?

As far as mobile towers are concerned they recommended radiation norms which are ten times as strict as the existing ones (US standards) —

Pilot said, “We are not going to compromise with radiation limits since it has health-related concerns. The department of telecommunications set up an Inter Ministerial Group in August, 2010, to evaluate the evidence, revisit radiation guidelines for mobile towers and adopt guidelines for radiation emission by cell phones. This group has recommended radiation limits more stringent than that of the United Nations.”

As part of the study, Stamatakis and colleagues discovered a 48% increased mortality risk in those spending four or more hours per day watching TV, playing video games, or using computers. In terms of cardiovascular-related ailments, those individuals experienced a nearly 125% increased risk of occurrence, independent of other risk factors like smoking, obesity, and high-blood pressure.

They then compared exposure levels during pregnancy to rates of asthma and found that children whose mothers had the highest exposure levels — within the top 10 percent of women in the study — were 3.5 times more likely to develop asthma than those who were in the bottom 10 percent.

“The message is EMF is bad,” Dr. Li said. “You should avoid EMF as much as you can, especially during pregnancy.”

The risk for children whose exposure was somewhere in the middle — between 10 percent and 90 percent — was 75 percent higher than for those in the lowest exposure group.

Until now it was believed that using a mobile phone for more than 30 minutes daily (over 8 to 10 years) would put the user at an increased risk of cancer. However, a group of experts has interpreted the international Interphone study report and claimed that ….using mobile phones for more than four minutes daily or two hours per month (over 10 years of use) increases risk of cancer and other health hazards.

“This is because in addition to the overuse of cell phones, we are also absorbing excessive radiation from mobile phone towers 24X7.

“In the late 1990s, when some of the first data-transmission technologies were being developed, I had a conversation with an RF engineer. He told me, off the record, that he and other engineers were very concerned about at least one of the technologies being used in cell phone transmission—there were insane amounts of radio-frequency power coming out right next to people’s heads. That’s how long people in this field have known there is something wrong, and have not been able to say a word.”

Despite the uncertainty of any imminent health risks, the 186 current cellular towers which spike the skyline of Paris may soon be removed. Deputy Mayor Mao Péninou told Le Monde, “We are also looking at legal options for the facilities currently in place. They are no longer serving as experiment sites, so we will see how we can legally dismantle them.”

The results of this study provide evidence for an association between cumulative exposure of extremely low-frequency EMFs and suicide, especially among younger workers. We hypothesize that an increased vulnerability at younger ages may be based on a change in the nature of depression with age, with suicide more closely linked to depression among younger workers and physical impairments among older workers.

Results of this study indicated that whole body exposure to modulated RFR similar to that emitted by GSM mobile phones caused pathological changes in the thyroid gland by altering gland morphology and inducing apoptotic [cell suicide] pathways.

A Smart Meter health scare has driven residents from their homes amid fears they are being exposed to high levels of electromagnetic radiation.

A young family and another resident have fled the Keilor East street, claiming constant headaches and sleep deprivation is making their lives a misery, but authorities say the controversial devices are safe.

Donor sperm samples, mostly normozoospermic, exposed ex vivo during 4 hours to a wireless internet-connected laptop showed a significant decrease in progressive sperm motility and an increase in sperm DNA fragmentation.

Unlike the hardwired phone system built by Southern New England Telephone Co. over the decades since the telephone was invented, and that has centralized battery backup systems, each cell tower and switching station of the cell phone system operates independently and must have its own power source to operate if the electric grid fails.

With cell towers having no backup power in many areas of the state, those who have come to rely on its convenience found no signal bars on their phones, fully charged or otherwise. It wasn’t just personal calls that weren’t going through, the 911-system also took a hit.

The study also added that in the case of honey bees, the group observed that high radiation resulted in an unusual phenomenon known as ‘colony collapse disorder’ which is characterized by sudden disappearance of a hive’s inhabitants, leaving only queens, eggs and a few immature workers behind.

At a 10-foot distance, the whole body exposure to radio frequency from a smart meter may be up to 80 times higher than the whole body radio frequency exposure from a cellphone… “It’s a large experiment on a very large population and a big chunk of that experiment is involuntary.” ….Olle Johansson, professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Sweden’s Karolinska Institute, issued a press release stating that “the combined effect of cell phones, cordless phones, cell towers, WiFi and wireless Internet place billions of people around the world at risk for cancer, neurological disease and reproductive and developmental impairments.”

A peer-reviewed survey of 439 medical technicians published this year in Perfusion, a journal about cardio-pulmonary bypass surgery, found that 55 percent of technicians who monitor bypass machines acknowledged to researchers that they had talked on cellphones during heart surgery. Half said they had texted while in surgery.

We do not agree. We consider that the data contain several indications of increased risk, despite low exposure, short latency period, and limitations in the study design, analyses and interpretation.

These preliminary findings suggest that we should prepare for about a doubled brain cancer incidence rate and possibly as high as 25 times the incidence we have today. One result of such a worldwide increase in brain cancers would be a dramatic shortage of neurosurgeons leading to increased mortality.

Any statement about harmless cell phones based on only 5-10 years of years of use has no scientific basis due to the long latency times involved.

The experts wrote that history was “replete with failures to control highly profitable carcinogenic substances, ranging from tobacco to asbestos, until proof of harm became irrefutable”, and suggested on a conservative analysis that mobile phones and other wireless radiation might be seeding 250,000 avoidable brain tumours every year.

The 16 co-authors replied that independent studies had shown mobile phone emissions could damage genetic material, increase the production of DNA-damaging free radicals, and affect the heart, brain, liver and hormone production.

A survey of neurovegetative and hematologic disorders was conducted in a population (n = 13) exposed occupationally to environmental electromagnetic fields; the population was matched with 13 control subjects. The exposed subjects worked at least 8 h/d for 1-5 y in premises located above transformers and high-tension cables, and the subjects were submitted to low-frequency electromagnetic fields (i.e., 50 Hz) of 0.2 microT-6.6 microT.

The exposed population had a significant increase in degree of certain neurovegetative disorders (i.e., physical fatigue, psychical asthenia, lipothymia, decreased libido, melancholy, depressive tendency, and irritability). In addition, the population experienced a significant fall in total lymphocytes. Leukopenia and neutropenia were also observed in two persons permanently exposed to doses of 1.2-6.6 microT. The disorders disappeared when exposure stopped, and they reappeared on re-exposure.

Objective To examine mortality from suicide in relation to estimated exposure to extremely low-frequency electromagnetic fields in a cohort of138,905 male electric utility workers.

Conclusions These data provide evidence for an association between occupational electromagnetic fields and suicide that warrants further evaluation. A plausible mechanism related to melatonin and depression provides a direction for additional laboratory research and epidemiologic evaluation.

The change in the nature of depression with age suggests that people at a younger age may be more vulnerable to the effects of exposure to EMFs, resulting in depressive disorders and suicide.

ARC’s 2010 Interphone study of 14,000 longtime cellphone users who are from 13 countries found those who talked on their phones at least 30 minutes per day experienced a 40 percent increase in the incidence of glioma, which is a tumor that occurs in brain tissue; and a 15 percent increase in meningioma, which occurs in the tissue that lines the brain. Moreover, the study found that the tumors in heavy users tended to be on the same side of the head as where the people customarily held their phone..

Other nations, which include Canada, England, Finland and France, urge consumers to minimize their exposure to cellphone radiation and require telecommunications businesses to pay for independent research to address health concerns. Connecticut Attorney General: “The pilot results showed no beneficial impact on total energy usage,” Jepsen said. “And, the savings that were seen in the pilot were limited to certain types of customers and would be far outweighed by the cost of installing the new meter systems,” he said.

• Modify the revised proposed decision to include hearings on health impact in the second proceedings, along with cost evaluation and community wide opt-out.

• Provide immediate relief to those requesting it and restore the analog meters.”

“I am 100 percent sure the skin rashes are due to radiation from Rachel (wireless communications equipment) and I strongly suspect that it caused the tumor as well.”

The fact that the radio system is mainly used in vehicles is what worries Roger Carlstrom.

“The waves bounce off the roof and back at the user with an effect that is perhaps ten times more powerful than a GSM phone,” says Roger Carlstrom.

“I think that the radio system that works with pulsed microwaves should be banned until it is considered how dangerous they might be.”

In America, utility companies have been hit with multi-million dollar class action lawsuits from people who have had the devices installed in their homes.

The move is a victory for campaign groups and backbench MPs, who raised concerns with ministers that the devices emit electromagnetic radiation 24 hours a day and cannot be turned off.

A rush by the Energy Department to use stimulus money to modernize the country’s power grid has left the system vulnerable to cyberattacks, the agency’s internal watchdog found.

Inspector General Gregory H. Friedman found “shortcomings” in the cybersecurity plans of more than a third of the utility companies that got federal funding for “smart grid” projects — from incomplete strategies to prevent an attack to vague steps for stopping one if it started.

Of 99 grants awarded to utilities — ranging from $400,000 to $200 million — 36 recipients did not take all the required security steps to ward off a cyberattack, auditors found. Even though Energy Department officials told the utilities to update their plans, many did not.

“The pacemaker could misinterpret the cellphone signal as a heartbeat and withhold pacing, producing symptoms such as sudden fatigue. The mobile phone must be kept six inches away from pacemaker site and the patient must talk on the phone from the other ear and not the one close to the site,” Dr Jaswal said.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) had recently said talking on cellphone could cause a malignant form of brain Cancer classifying radiation emanating from mobile phones alongside gasoline engine exhaust, lead and DDT as “possibly carcinogenic to humans”.

“They should set up a separate task force to monitor the radiation impacts these towers have,” she said.
“I suggest that they not only have a corporate social responsibility but also a corporate social and environment responsibility. We need to know what the company has done to the environment. The companies should disclose this on the internet so that there is transparency,” she added.

Chris Varcoe, president of the Mississauga Fire Fighters Association, expressed concern about plans by the municipality to locate cell towers at City facilities, including fire stations.

Therefore, we strongly object to placement of cell towers on our fire stations and request that you carefully consider placements for towers on City properties or withhold the decision altogether until the true health effects are known.”
